Foreword – Annick De Ridder

Foreword

Annick De Ridder, Flemish Minister for Mobility, Public Works, Ports and Sport

In Flanders, we have a rich sporting culture. (Top-level) sporting events inspire athletes, clubs, schools, and volunteers to keep our sporting tradition alive and strong. Sport is therefore an important link that connects different communities. Whether you take part yourself or cheer from the sidelines, every sporting activity brings people together. This is especially true for Quadrille, where inclusion, talent, and perseverance are central.

From the local basketball court around the corner to international competitions: every match creates connection and every training session makes us stronger. Sport brings together young and old, friends and strangers. It teaches us the importance of teamwork and how to deal with setbacks—skills that are just as valuable off the field. Para dressage at Quadrille shows this in a particularly inspiring way, with riders who push their limits every day.

So whether you are in the saddle, cheering along the arena, or simply there to enjoy: you are contributing to something meaningful. With sport in our lives, we are working towards a future in which everyone wins.

I am already looking forward to what this edition of Quadrille will bring.
