On behalf of the Fédération Equestre Internationale, I am thrilled to welcome you to the CPEDI2* and CPEDI3*, here at Quadrille in Waregem. As the excitement of the next few days unfolds, we will once again be reminded of what makes Para Dressage one of the most remarkable of sports. The precision, skill and harmony you will come to witness here, is the direct result of the time and dedication invested into nourishing the unique bond between horse and rider.

When it comes to Para Dressage, the magic in the arena is palpable, displaying the undeniable complicity required to perform at this level and showing just how receptive horses are towards their riders. As is customary, athletes are divided into five different grades based on their level of impairment and will be competing for titles in the Grand Prix, the Freestyle and the Team test. There will be approximately 60 athletes from 14 nations at the start here in Waregem and it is with great anticipation that we look forward to discovering who the laureates will be. Being in a year where athletes prepare the road to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, it goes without saying that this event is a crucial milestone on their journey.

I would like to thank and send my best wishes for a great event to the Honorary President of the Belgian Paralympic Committee and Managing director at Quadrille, Anne d’Ieteren, and to her highly experienced Organising Committee along with all the horse-and-rider combinations, breeders and owners, trainers, officials and support staff whose expertise and dedication deserve our respect and gratitude. Thank you also, to all the sponsors, partners, volunteers, media and everyone who has devoted their time, commitment and support to the successful running of this event allowing people to engage first-hand with FEI Para Dressage.

In whatever capacity you have come here today, I wish you an enjoyable event, conducted in the best spirit of great horsemanship.
